Sorry, complete newb here.
What is the difference between these two octagonal gates?

Clearly the latter is a lot cheaper, but it also looks smaller than the former.
I'm new to fight sticks, so I'm planning on just buying something standard like the Qanba Q4. I figure I'll start off light by modding the restrictor gate from square to octagonal, and the stick/button colors. What do ya guys think? And then in the future, I would love to build something more special. I liked that I can get a stick that's universal for both Xbox and PS3. That is why I went with the Q4. The other universal sticks I considered were Eightarc Fusion and Omni 3. Eightarc just seemed like an updated Q4 for $35 extra, and I couldn't find much info on Omni 3, but either way it seems to be no longer in production at the manufacturer's site.
Would love any input and suggestions!
