X arcade tank stick changed from childhood disappointment to a dream.

Long ago when I was young I wanted one so bad. well last year I got one of CL and all I had to do is trade a 148 gig 15k rpm sas drive for it. I was so excited. then I got it home and discovered that the Board inside was recognized more as a keyboard instead of a game controller. Remapping it was a nightmare, and only if the damn thing did not reset back to default. I was so disappointed, and so happy I did not spend any real money on this thing.

As a child I would have just tossed the thing in the closet and never looked at the thing again to avoid being reminded of the disappointment. However now I work in IT and have a better understanding of electronics and how to Mod/improve them.

So I pried the thing open and installed 2 TOODLES CTHULHU MULTI-CONSOLE PCB modules, and 2 Neutrik NAUSB-W-B A/B USB Feed-Through. I don't have any pics at the moment but I am happy with the result so far. I also took apart all components and cleaned them, oiled them (white lithium grease), and sanded the areas smooth. With a few minor adjustments to the micro switches to increase sensitivity on the joysticks, and the thing works like a dream.
