Custom LS-32 octagonal gates.

I haven't been able to find any octagonal gates for the Seimitsu LS-32 joystick (I hear they don't exist?), so I threw together a 3D model and sent it off to Shapeways for 3D printing. I haven't gotten it back yet and it will likely need tweaking to get the exact sizes right, but I'll post my findings on this thread. If it works well and people are interested I'll make them available to the public.

Arcade stick hardware stores in the Montreal region

Hey Guys,

I've been playing fighting games for a while now and sparked interest in making my own fight stick/arcade stick. I know there are a couple of places to purchase parts online but i would rather purchase them at a store in my area. I wanted to know if anyone knew any places in the Montreal area who sell parts to build one.

Thanks!

Question about Madcatz Fightstick Pro PS3 PCB question

So I picked up a new Fightstick Pro. I'm planning on installing a PS360+, but the new PCB inside is really confusing. I figured finding where to solder to access the home button would be similar to the TE sticks, but this new one is really different. Anyone have any advice?

New MCZ TE2 for XBox One (already Confirmed)

So I didn't get to see the stream, but I read in a Liveblog that a new Mad Catz TE 2 Fightstick was used to demonstrate the new Killer Instinct for XBox One! Anyone seen any additional details about that new stick? I suppose that the MadCatz.tv site is mum until tomorrow.

UPDATE: already confirmed, so I removed the question mark from the thread topic... Now that it's confirmed, let's talk about it!

Modding SSF4AE for PC (NO DLC UNLOCKS!)

This thread is for discussing the technical aspects of modding SF4AE. It is not for submitting skins. Do that in this other thread, instead.

If you're just getting into modding, hit up the tutorials on the modding wiki. Most everything still functions similarly to vanilla SF4, but the engine doesn't use emz bundles for costumes/colors anymore.

I will update this first post with some frequently asked questions as they arise, so please read it before asking.

ARC EYE 3: LEDs made easy!

Yes, I did say I wasn't going to make LEDs anymore, but that doesn't mean I can't work with one of the premier fightstick modders on the scene to bring you:

Quick Facts:
 • Yes, Toodles is my partner on this project!
 • New LED design to make it even easier to install
 • New LED controller to go with the LEDs (handles 8 buttons only)
 • Designed for 30mm SANWA (snap in semitsus and rollies are also compatible)
 • Arceye2 is not obsolete. It remains vaild for semitsu screw ins and can work with the new LED controller with slight modification to the controller
 • Yes, the new design is scalable to other button sizes / types in the future (but no plans currently)
 • Install / demo videos will be made shortly after EVO
 • Availability is tentative for late July
FAQ:

Q: What kind of joystick will this work on?
A: Any common ground controller including any of Toodles' products, PS360+, Hori, Madcatz, Paewang, DualStrike. Some versions of Qanba/Eightarc sticks are not compatible because they're not common ground.

Q: So how do i tell if my stick common ground ?
A: Please search the forums / google

Q: Is this plug and play?
A: If you have a 360 TE/TE-S Madcatz, you only need to solder one wire for power. Everything else is plug and play. If you have any other type of common ground controller, you will need to handle connection from Remora to the controller board. I will provide diagrams and pics in post #3 and offer advice where I can, but NO SUPPORT WILL BE PROVIDED for these types of setups. If you read through this post and still have no idea what to do, i recommend hiring someone to do the mod for you (it'll probably be a bit too advanced for a novice).

If you have a PS3 Madcatz stick, the header pinout is different than the 360 TE (for connecting remora to the controller). With a screwdriver you should be able to re-position the pins inside the header. Toodles is looking into an alternative solution in the meantime.

Q: Will you mod my stick for me?
A: Neither of us have the time I'm afraid, but you can hire someone like Gummo or JDM714

Q: Where do I find JST cables?
A: This should work

Weird seeing the turbo on the right. I wonder if this is with Sanwa parts ala a TE or another stick with the new and improved MadKatz stock parts.

Neat to see regardless!

Keyboard Layout hitbox?

I just saw a few minutes ago a UMvC3 match on evo 2k13 where GEX HealingCare was using a hitbox with a keyboard layout for the buttons with the directional arrow keys on the left side and the other inputs on the right. I'm very interested in finding and purchasing a similar hitbox because I am more adept at using a keyboard than a stick or a gamepad. Would anybody happen to know where I could find one?

360 SF IV madcatz fightpad not working on PC? Help please

$

I bought sf x tekken off steam a few days ago and I can't get my sf IV fightpad to work on my pc.

From what I've been able to google people say that all you have to do is DL the regular 360 controller drivers and that they should work with the fightpad.

I've done that but it's still not working. My laptop recognizes that a sf iv fightpad is connected but under hardware it still says that i don't have the proper drivers even though I've downloaded the 360 controller drivers.

Really could use some help as I'm pretty frustrated at this point. Thanks.

The Link: The Quick-Disconnect JLF Shaft!

The Link is a new JLF shaft design that is purposed to allow easy storage for all kinds of players. The casual players looking to save a little space, and for traveling tournament players who need every inch when cramming into a full car.

The new design is a two piece steel construction. When in place, the Link is identical in height, allowing for you to drop it right into your current arcade stick that has a Sanwa JLF and feel no difference. The diameter of the center collar is perfect size so that you can keep your current dust washer, however the shaft cover will have to go!
0523112311a-300x225.jpg

Compared to the original shaft, the Link is nearly identical. The few base changes are the collar locking/unlocking mechanic and the hollow construction to cut down on any added weight, as well as allow for future mods such as LEDs.
0523112301.jpg

0523112302-300x225.jpg
Another key difference is in how the top is changed out. In the old design you had to utilize the flat head screwdriver slot to get ample torque to tighten the top enough not to loosen. In the new design, the center of the top section has been keyed for a 3mm hex bit, allowing for a more streamlined approach. This is the same size required to take the top panel off of a TE, which makes install that much easier.

Here's a quick overview I've done, please excuse the horrible quality... video stuff isn't my thing these days.

FAQ
JLF Only?

If this takes off, and there's enough interest, the "Link technology" so-to-speak, can be ported to any style shaft out there. Get interest in the current Link JLF and you can probably expect another type.
How do I install a it?

If you're completely in unfamiliar territory, I suggest hitting up Youtube with just a "JLF Install" search string to cover your bases. It's an extremely simple swap, with minor tools required, however Vicko has done a fantastic job overviewing how to install it into his HRAP and TE-S.

Extra Install Notes:

1. If you're installing it into a Madcatz TE or one that has the second dust washer that lies on top of the pivot bushing, REMOVE THAT INNER DUST WASHER.

They (and some others) have 2 in the stick, one on the control panel (which is fine) and an inner one that rests underneath the control panel, right over the pivot bushing. That inner one will cause problems, both in coupling the pieces together and connection, remove it and you'll save yourself headache.

Sticks to note that may have the inner (under the control panel) dust washer that must be removed:
 • Madcatz TE/SE
 • Qanba
2.Custom plexi dustwashers may have an adverse affect. If you find it's popping out during play and you have a custom dust washer. Remove said dustwasher and test the compared performance, you should see an improvement. A workaround to this is to put a counter-sink into the inner-diameter of that dustwasher, as it will alleviate problematic pressure on the collar of the Link from that hard angle.
Will it come apart without engaging the collar ever?

In short, yes it can, but only if you exert upward force that's unnatural to standard play. There is a yield strength, it hasn't been exact weight tested yet, but it won't come apart unless you're aiming to make it happen. It will not, and I repeat, NOT come apart during normal play if you do not touch the collar, that is a guarantee.

This is something I'm looking into and perhaps in future runs this performance will improve, but for now I HIGHLY recommend against lifting up the stick by your ball/bat top.
What do I do about the hole left after it's been disconnected?

Working on that one, currently one of the best thoughts is to simply use a 24mm button plug with the tabs snapped off. The Link is made of 416 Stainless Steel, it is magnetic so you can get creative... or just cover it with painters tape during travel.

*Update to the above

Below is a picture of someone not only showing off a hitbox/standard style hybrid stick, but also the use of a plug to cover the hole when it's not required.

3.jpg
I got it and put it together, but it looks like the collar piece doesn't go all the way back down when locked together.

This is normal behavior for now, future iterations may behave slightly different but for now this is OK.

Quick diagram courtesy of Freedom Gundam:
thelink.jpg

*Update to the above picture/description

New adjustments have removed much of the space shown above, and as such has also increased the linking strength, below is a comparison of the old vs. new, you will see a big difference in how far the collar goes down.

Comparison-e1327697832398.jpg
How do I order one?

Currently they are ONLY available at Focus Attack. I won’t be selling directly for a little while, so if you want to grab one head over there and maybe pick up some other items you may need.

Shadowblade Happ/Fanta mods?

$

I have an old infamous Shadowblade laying around. I know a handful of people have modded it to accept Japanese parts. However, since the stock stick is a bad American style ripoff, it got me wondering if the case has enough depth for a Happ/iL stick or a Korean Fanta? Has anyone tried this?

Sticks and next-gen consoles.

I'm well aware that Madcatz confirmed that their current sticks and other peripherals won't work with the PS4/Xbox1. However, I couldn't find a clear answer regarding other companies and stick types, such as Hori and Qanba. I'm looking at purchasing a new stick to replace my Hori Fighting Stick 3, to use with my PC and PS3. However, if say, a Qanba Q4 won't work with the PS4, then I'd rather just save my money and wait. I understand that I could probably mod it myself, but I have no experience with modding sticks and would be worried about doing so.

So, tl;dr, I'm wondering if there is any confirmation about non-madcatz sticks natively working with next-gen consoles.

Replacing fried 1st round TE pcb with Brawlstick PCB. Extra terminals?

$

my first run TE pcb is no more, and i bought a couple $30 brawlsticks on amazon for backups for just such an occasion. im trying to just replace the pcb's but the brawlstick has extra terminals on a few of the inputs. there are extra kgrounds and a p00. im not sure where they are supposed to go. it looks like the brawlstick is not a common ground pcb?

I took the main board out of the stick, hooked it up to the pc via usb and its recognized. I plan to just drop that into my TE stick and be on my merry way, except i have no idea where the extra terminals are supposed to go. Do they need to be soldered somewhere? in my research i read somewhere on here that the brawlstick wont work correctly without the "home button" pcb attatched as well, so i might just have to do a whole pcb innards replacement.

so what i see is,
the main button terminals both have a ground in the brawlstick (1 kgnd and 1 gnd) where the old te pcb just has 1 gnd. and the connectors on the right side of the pcb (looking at the front), both have 2 extra terminals although they are not labeled very well for me. so on the back, those 2 extra terminals are labeled "cn5" and "P00" for the top column and "kgnd" and "CA7" for the bottom column.

IMG_20130716_013903_zpseb2bdc36.jpg

would anyone be able to point me in the right direction of what to do with these extra terminals? Im assuming that for the grounds and kgrounds, i can use the same ground terminal for each one? but what of P00 and the other CA7?

any help greatly appreciated.

FGWidget setup for Mayflash 09 pcb help

Hello, I need alittle help setting up the FGWidget with a 09 Mayflash PCB. I just put together my other mayflash, that one had the 07 board. The difference I'm getting is my power comes out -4.6 volt on the 09 board versus +4.6 volt I used on the 07.
I'm tapping my power on the 07 board from a USB solder point (+4.6 V). All the contacts ive checked for on the 09 board come in all negative. Is there anything I can do to power the widget?
I've already setup some budget uilas and led ball top mod in the 09 mayflash, all are wired with the positive wires daisy'ed to ground and the negative wires daisy'ed to a to USB solder point (draws -4.6V) - super bright and stay on continuessly. So I began to rewire my uilas like my 07 board starting with 4P. Noticed right away it wasn't working, button didn't light up but strangely my balltop was flashing in/out slowly and flashed when 4P was pressed. Its weird at this point to get the widget to work since I can't seem to pinpoint a positive source anywhere on the may flash 09 board. Any help would be appreciative. I went ahead and rewired everything back so the buttons and board stay lit constantly.

Hori will be unveiling their new "Fighting Stick" series of arcade sticks prior to/at Tokyo Game Show 2009 this year.

They are 6 button arcade sticks and will be available on both the Xbox 360 (VX) and PS3 (V3).

The 360 version will be white and PS3 version will be black.

More details on this one as TGS rolls around.

I know I posted a link to a Left 4 Dead 2 thing, but it has pictures of what looks like magazine ads or something. If you look to the right of the L4D2 ad there is another ad for a Hori stick with a 6 button layout. It also doesn't seem to have any wires, but they never show that in ads anyways.

What do you guys think? Could they be rolling these out the same time they roll out with the new sticks that come with the Tekken 6 bundle?

Updated 360 controller mac driver, Hori EX2, Mad Catz SFIV Sticks

Hi folks,

Following on from these two threads

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=178075&page=2
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=166197

I've updated the mac 360 controller driver to support the Hori EX2, and the two Mad Catz sticks, the SE and TE.

I've only tested the driver with the EX2 and Mad Catz SFIV SE, but if the info I recieved was right the TE stick should work fine too.

If anyone can pass on the info needed (as explained in the first post of the 2nd linked thread) for the HRAP EX stick, I'll place that in an updated driver.

The link to the updated driver is as follows.

Its gone :)

Any feedback on the status of the TE stick would be greatfull, and I hope you guys have as much fun with MAME as I do :looney:

Edit:

This driver should just install, quick restart and work, no playing around with .plist files or repairing permissions or messing with the terminal, enjoy!

Update:

I've included the MadCatz SFIV pad, their Retro Arcade Stick and their 4716 pad in new build, link is as folows.

Still waiting on the info for the HRAP EX and I'll include that in a new build.

Enjoy :)

FAQ: Buying Arcade Sticks & Parts in Canada

$

As suggested by Kyle, this seems to come up a lot and it would be nice to have a thread that is the place to look when it comes to acquiring arcade sticks in Canada, which is getting more an more difficult. I am also focusing on the high end sticks put out by Hori and Mad Catz.

PM me if you have places to add! I'm trying to keep this restricted to online sales, if you find one locally feel free to post a reply for other locals. I'll try to keep the 1st post updated to the latest info.

1. Where can I buy sticks in Canada?
Hori's are currently easier to find than TEs in Canada, and the prices are fairly reasonable. Amazon.ca carries most of these. You can get free shipping within Canada on any of the sticks from amazon.ca.

TEs/SEs are getting really hard to find in Canada. Amazon.ca appears to have stopped supporting MadCatz sticks. Luckily Amazon.com (not .ca) has recently started shipping sticks to Canada! Also the Canadian dollar is about equal. Unfortunately they only have one shipping option, which is about $25 and you'll probably pay about a $15 import Fee, so you're looking at about $40 over the list price. The good news is that you don't have to pay GST/PST.

Also the people behind the Canada Cup Tournament have set up a store to get TEs to Canadians. Canada Joysticks also has some sticks and parts. Support these guys!

2. What are the current deals for sticks?
Hori:
Real Arcade Pro V3/VX series for $130/$140
HRAP Premium VLXs for $299
Wireless VX $79.99
If you're really into the last generation of HRAPs you an find them at amazon.com if you're willing to pay the extra fees
HRAP EX
HRAP 3
HRAP EX-SE
Mad Catz:
TEs:
NEW - Game Shark (official MadCatz Store) - http://gamesharkstore.ca/ is shipping to Canada now. They have TE Round 2s for $159 + shipping.
Canada-cup.ca has the Chun Li stick for both playforms and the MVC2 stick for 360 for $170 & $155 respectively
Canadian Joysticks - http://www.canadianjoysticks.com/ Has the MVC2 TE for 360 for $159 and the RD1 TE for PS3 for $149- Currently out of stock
Gamestop.ca has the MvC3 TE Stick (360) for $179
Amazon.com is still shipping BlazBlue TEs for both platforms for $129 (plus shipping/fees). Currently (March 2011) all of the Other TEs are sold out or crazy prices other than the PS3 Rd1 TE
SEs:
Nowhere that is worth the price that I am aware of! The shipping from amazon.com really makes the SE not worth while.
Qanba:
I have no familiarity with these, but you can find them at CanadianJoysticks

3. Where can I buy modding parts in Canada?

Inside Canada
Canadian Joysticks - http://www.canadianjoysticks.com/
Playdium - https://www.theplaydiumstore.com/c-2-parts.aspx?id=3

Outside of Canada
The following part vendors ship to Canada. I've ordered from all of them with no issues. Shipping tends to take a while to get across the border. Lizardlick has the cheapest shipping to Canada that I've come across.
lizardlick.com (Sticks, buttons, pcbs) - Lizard Lick Amusements
akihabarashop.jp (Sticks, buttons, pcbs) - AkihabaraShop.jp
