Recent Purchases and Good Finds

I've seen this on other forums lately and figured I would give it a try.

Pick up a HRAP for a steal? Find a SFAC stick at a garage sale? Post it here.

I'll start out:

I picked up a Namco PS1 stick for $40 shipped today. I've been after one for a while ever since MarkMan claimed it was his favorite stick. I have a few sticks now so I'm excited to give it a try.

Also recently got a ReKleSS Saturn to PS2 converter with a very nice condition Saturn pad for $42 from Ikagi-chan in the Trading Outlet. I was supposed to have gotten a PS2 Saturn pad a while back for $90 :xeye: and I'm just as happy with this.

I know this isn't technically Tech Talk, but there's already a post about people's multi-thousand dollar entertainment setups. I won't posting be in there anytime soon.

LionCast Arcade Stick - How to open it and does an art template exist ?

Hello c:

Recently I purchased the rather price friendly "LionCast" Arcade Stick and have been pretty happy with it so far.

MKVUGjy.jpg

Of course it isn't perfect, the stick does feel good and has a very nice clicking sound to it but tends to feel a bit loose and the buttons aren't the best.
While hoping to get something better in the future, I am content with what I got, since I'm not a competitive but rather casual person when it comes to playing games and simply wanted to know what having such a product is like.

Now I heard that the LionCast is rather modding friendly, due to being similar to the Honcam but it isn't easy to find a lot of information about it.

What I got from it is that is doesn't seem like changing the buttons should be too hard, since it seems like simply unplugging and plugging in some cables is required, so I was hoping to try that in the future and if that goes wrong at least not too much money is lost!
I'm staying away from the stick for now though, since I do not know how to solder and have nobody who could do that for me either.

The thing is that I'm not quiet sure how to open it, I assume that you do it by removing the slip stoppers at the bottom to access the screws, exactly how you do it with the Honcam.
I'm not sure if that really is the right way to do it though, so I'd rather have somebody confirm this before I go ahead and mess it up, heh c:"

I was also trying to find the art template for my Arcade Stick, but my search didn't bring anything up, so I was wondering if the template even exists.

Thank you very much for having taken the time to read this ❀

This is my first time to ever write anything in a thread, so I hope that I did this right.

Paradise Arcade Shop, LED Joysticks, Buttons, Mods and more

We have been floating around for a little while posting and received a recommendation to start a thread. Paradise Arcade Shop is based in Hawaii, working to bring a variety of controls to the arcade and fight stick market. We carry a number of different options for price points in both sticks and buttons, but we only sell products that we would use. That means, there is a difference between a Porsche and a Toyota, we see a place for both of those in the market, and we won't sell Toyota's at Porsche prices.

I say "we" as Ponyboy likes to harass me about, because the company is my wife and I. For those of you who have ordered already(thank you) she packs the orders and answers about 90% of the emails (mostly logisitics, but she is answering the "How to I light an LED" questions now) This is also her full time job and my part time job. She works hard to send out all stock items in 1-2 days, and rides my ass about the cutsom builds so they stay close to 1-3 days(We build LED sticks to order, and some of our game systems)

I have been an active membe of KLOV, Coinopspace, and BYOAC for sometime, and we sell on EBAY and Amazon. I will probably edit the intro down in the future, but I wanted just let people know who "we" are and who I am. Thank you for all the support and orders we already have received and now...it's time for the good stuff!

Mortal Kombat 9 Stick mod products!!!!! If you want new controls with the same forms to just upgrade your stick try some of these IL products and microswitch upgrades.

Translucent Concave IL buttons - A great upgrade to your stick, especially with...

IL-lumination LED pads - Available in RGB or single color

IL Eurosticks provide "Happ Competition" Style with an upgrade in quality

And, for amazing light touch, upgrade any Happ or IL button to our 20 gram micros (Please note that these are 20 gram max spec and really are closer to 15 grams of actuation force)

We also carry JLF's, JLW's, LS-32, LS-32-01, LS-40, PS-14-KN pushbuttons, re-released PS-14-K Skeleton buttons, Paradise LED sticks, custom ball tops and a variety of hollow shafts(we also have 10 new custom hollow shafts on order, need a long JLF shaft or want to put a ball top on a Eurostick joystick?)

Finally... we have two new ball tops in, Pearls and Emerald Green that will be available shortly and were built to match the Rollie Buttons.

And the answer is "Yes, the pearl will light up."

Hori RAP4 Kai - Kowal Plate - Fujin V2 Lever

As the title conveys I'm going to be mounting a Fujin V2 lever into my Hori. Aside from drilling my 35MM hole, I've researched that I'll need a mounting plate so I decided to buy the Kowal universal plate. I'm curious if anyone here has experience mounting mounting what is essentially a modified Fanta stick into a Hori case? I had seen a video where a person did the mod but had to trim the plastic on the lever itself. I'd rather not damage the lever in any way.

As you can see in the photo from the underside of the stick how the plastic extends over the sides of the lever.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Fujin V2 lever and could share with me how it compares to other K-levers. I decided I had to get my hands on one because I've heard so many good remarks about it but no in depth information on what makes it stand out.

Help Me Pick a Nice Monitor!

Hello! My PC specs include a 7700k CPU and a Asus Dual 1070, and I'm currently using a Samsung PX2370, and it's got me feeling a bit dated, I've got a few scratches in the middle and top-middle of the panel that have been disrupting me while gaming on occasion here and there, and this is prompting me for a nice upgrade. I have 25 2/8ths inches of width in my monitor cubby in my desk to play with, and height/depth isn't really an issue, so I'd prefer a 27 inch panel. I'm looking at a budget of about $500, with capacity to go slightly over if it's a great buy.

Latency is important, this is SRK, y'all know this already.

1920x1080 vs 2560x1440? I'm sure my GPU could handle 1440p maxed out on most of my games and I'd like to get the best out of that. I do tend to play a lot of very pretty games and want them to really shine.

60hz vs 144hz? Is the difference really that noticeable? My research tells me yes, but I would love some practical reasons to spring for it.

Gsync? I hate screen tearing but part of me wonders if I get so much of it because of the age of my current display, I'm not sure. It sounds like a great benefit, are gsync monitors bound to 144hz refresh rate though? I think so?

Built in speakers are in no way shape or form required. No thanks lol.

I would prefer a somewhat adjustable stand with vertical movement and tilt, no VESA mount required though.

A curved monitor would be really nice, but likely out of the price range if I'm being real with myself. Who knows though, that's why I'm asking here.

I think that covers most of what you need to know about what I'm looking for? Throw me some suggestions!

Quite of topic.....

Hi everyone, been a while, new job and a new house got in the way.
This is not specifically a shoryuken question but I've got no real response from my other forums, (Android, psp) so here goes.

I've got a pspGo as my main source of music in my stereo setup, through a genuine Sony dock.

I had been using a paired PS3 controller, but I'm looking for a more elegant solution.

I thought maybe the PS3 remote would pair but I doubted it and can't find any info.

Maybe one of those small universal Bluetooth PS3 controllers on eBay (again can't find info)

I thought I might be able to pair my smart phone but all I've been able to find is wats to control the smart phone with the psp not the other way around.

Then I thought of you guys, pad hacking and how you find know of weird peripherals.

One thought was if the PS3 had a Bluetooth midi player like the madcatz Xbox 360 one?

And last thought just padhacking a PS3 sixasis controller in as small form factor as possible? Or if possible into a remote?

Any ideas guys?

Thanks so much :)

Hori RAP 4 - Did I just buy a dud ?

Hi friends, a newbie here. I recently bought a HORI RAP 4 arcade stick from the middle east through a friend of mine working there. I chose the middle east route since the same stick costs roughly about 400 USD in India. That's PS4 console ballpark and I just couldn't justify the extra premium that I had to shell out. So my friend came back to India with the arcade stick and I was pretty excited just to see the packaging let alone the stick. I took the stick home and connected it to the PS4 after watching a few YouTube videos on how to properly connect one. Then came the bummer, the joystick wouldn't register down input *Facepalm*,every other input worked pretty flawlessly. I then started reading on this specific problem online and after scouring through various threads came across the potential cause, that it could be due to a faulty snap action switch in the joystick assembly. I sourced the micro switch that they widely use in arcade cabinets in my town and replaced the original and what I thought was the faulty one with the new micro switch. The stick still didn't respond to the down input and I pretty much concluded that the problem lies elsewhere. And my temporal lobe was like, 'Elsewhere, you mean the bloody PCB, that's rocket science, that's way beyond what a mere mortal like you could fiddle with '. So, I threw a random Hail Mary and entrusted the stick with a friend who said he knew people who work on dual shock controllers and consoles. It has been a while now and when I spoke with him last week he said they were unsure if they could fix it since they weren't familiar with one. It is depressing just to think about the stick now.
Is there any way the stick could be fixed ? Looking forward to valuable suggestions from fellow tech savvy members. Thanks in advance.

PS2 Mayflash Programmer, SF Anniversary PS2 stick, and right-handedness

$

I was thinking of using a Street Fighter Anniversary stick for everything from the 2600 to the One and Switch. It has a PS2 mode, and there are many adapters from PS2 to other standards. But here's the interesting twist: I was going to buy a Mayflash 2047, aka a Playstation programmer, for one main purpose, to invert the joystick 180 degrees and swap east and west, north and south, and punches and kicks. This is so I have a right handed joystick. The arrangement on the street fighter stick is right-hand friendly. I would buy a more custom model, but I'll wait until I get more money to buy one. I want a right handed set-up with no rapid fire, combos, macros or any other cheats.

Would a Mayflash 2047 do I what I want with it? Would a Mayflash 2047 be considered tournament-illegal just because it's able to have macros and combos and rapid fire on it? Would Mayflash make a tournament legal version with only button/joystick remappings, or one with an indicator light to show when it's tournament legal.

How much ping does that Playstation reprogrammer add?

Also would the PS2-> other system adapters work, like the ones from tototek for classics, or brook to the Xbox One? What would one do for Intellivision, Colecovision, (both classic and super action, as a few games only work with one and a couple only the other only.) 5200, 7800, Astrocade, and Jaguar? Also, is there a 3DO version with the daisy chain connector? Is there any significant ping of more than 1 ms?

The "what stick/controller should I get" Guide.

Warning: This thread is heavily opinionated as are the nature of any product review. Movie and game reviews are heavily opinionated as well.
As well all have contrasting views on what is good/acceptable, as rule from the moderators, we shall not devolve into a VERSUS thread.
Personal opinions are fine, trying to argue that your favorite stick is better will not be tolerated. Do not confuse opinion with fact and vise versa.
Your Results/Mileage will vary. And don't ask for us to make a choice for you, I am not holding anyone's hand.

When it comes to my own reviews, I will not go through and point out what is my own opinions from what is fact (as my prerogative), and I encourage everyone to do your own fact finding research before you make a final conclusion for yourself. That is what google is for, finding your own research and making your own decisions.

Stop asking for Promo codes and sales for any Mad Catz or other products.
Mad Catz has a front page ad on SRK's homepage. If there any codes to be had it be ether there or a insider like MarkMan will share with us the good news via a post in Tech Talk.

Yeah I am not having that any more, because I am a jerk.

Keep in mind I am purposely leaving out many limited edition and/or collectors sticks, as it goes outside the intentions of the guide. Collectors are going to collect.

At no time I will rate Sanwa or Seimitsu with each other or IL and Happs, or Japanese vs US/European vs Korean style parts.

Before I start with the cool part of this guide, we will first cover three more important objectives.
And what you need to consider above all else.
 • Needs
 • Wants
 • Budget
Needs. This covers what you absolutely have to have, strip down and basic. With any purchase this is what you should think of first. When it comes to Video Game controls this is usually covered by the Default game pad, only a few games require specialized controls or controls modified for those who have special needs. Example a One handed controller for a gamer who only have one useable arm.
I am assuming most people reading this guide now are hardcore fighter or arcade game fans who the regular d-pad is not cutting it for you, as we all hear complaints over the Xbox 360 or PS3 D-pad.

Wants. This is what you have your heart set for. For most people this is your end results.

Budget. This is how much money you have to spend. Budget is the more realistic and sobering part of the purchase process. Typically a stick will run you 60 to 250 dollars U.S. retail this figure will change with what the normal market price is in your region of the world.
Any stick you find less than $50 is not worth your money and breaks easy. Sticks more than $200 are no longer considered Beginner Sticks.
My general rule of thumb on these things: when in doubt, pass. I'd rather pay the few extra dollars and get one that I KNOW works than one that may or may not. My peace of mind is worth a few extra dollars

If you find some cheap stick or pad somewhere from questionable sources, consider it highly risky and pass. Usually what is too good to be true usually is.

Keep in mind if you are broke (Budget), and the default game pad works fine enough for you (Need) that these 2 will and should over ride your Wants.

Now I am also going to cover other features of each stick/ controller here. These factors are also important to cover but goes secondary to the above. I be using this on almost every stick I list here.
 • Quality
 • Reliability
 • Ease of Modification
 • Purpose or special use
Quick Short Cuts
Mad Catz

Difficulty Scale for Modding
From a scale of 1 to 5. This will factor in installing Buttons, Joysticks and replacement panels, and to a lesser extend PCB replacement.
This will not factor actual Dual-mods, replacement art or any painting.
 1. Easy: Standard parts drops right into place, reasonable access to all parts.
 2. Medium Easy: Still uses standard parts, access can be difficult/ time consuming
 3. Moderate Difficulty: Requires minor case modding or appropriate mount plates
 4. Medium hard: Requires some physical tool use to fit parts into place.
 5. Hard: Requires Heavy modding using tools to cut, grind or drill to fit replacement parts.
Last but not least I ask readers to go outside of this thread and do your research. Read reviews here on SRK and reviews on online stores and in magazines. Weigh the Pros and Cons before deciding which stick to get. And stop posting new threads on what stick you should buy, its why this thread is sticked.

How to Win at eBay.
Keep in mind eBay is not an online store. eBay is a listing and auction service, you are buying from that individual seller not eBay. And Every Seller is different.
For Experienced sellers who sold hundreds if not thousands, Look for sellers with a Feedback score of 99.5% rating or better. Huge time sellers with a 95% or lower are to be avoided like the plague. Pay attention to the text in the negative feedbacks, check to see if the negative feedbacks buyers actually have an issue or they are just jerks.
For people with a hundred sales or less, if they do not have a 100% rating, avoid them.

*When Bidding
Never, ever bid early. You only drive the price up higher.
Wait till the last possible minute, sometimes the last possible twelve seconds.
Also decide in advance the maximum you want to bid.

*How to know if you have a good price or not
Swing over to the reviews on PAGE 1 (it is required for this thread). I did not list the current price of a stick, I listed there original MSRP (or close to it). With the exception for huge collectors’ items avoid sticks that price them higher than I have them listed. (Examples Comic Con TE, Chun Li TE is going to be priced higher than other TEs) Many sellers have a terrible habit of over inflating the price of their sticks thinking the Market will bear, do not fall for it.
Also beware for sticks that are market high and are not in NEW/ Close to NEW condition. DO NOT pay full price on "customized sticks" with a few exceptions. Otherwise only pay full price on sticks that are keep stock.

Those exceptions are:
* Sticks that do not come as Full Sanwa or Full Seimitsu (they used knock off Parts instead of authentic parts) are modded to be all authentic buttons and joystick. Example finding a Mad Catz WWE Brawl Stick that has a JLF and Sanwa buttons installed. You should not pay any more than (approx) 10% more than the cost of the stick + cost of the new parts.
* Sticks that has been professionally Dual-Moded (if in doubt ask someone in SRK TT) The pricing should be cost of the stick + Dual Mod PCB Cost + 10% to 25% of the stick for labor.
* Older era (Decades old sticks such as SNES and Genesis/MegaDrive Era and back) sticks that are refurbish. Many of these are collector items.

As for buying online outside the United States? This is a tricky issue as each countries fighting game scene is different.
The market strong in Parts of Asia (like Japan or S. Korea), Europe (mostly Western Europe), Australia and Canada (maybe Mexico) otherwise you have to eat heavily shipping costs.
Tip for you guys overseas is try to find a seller in your home country first if possible, better if he is in your home province/area.
If that not possible look at neighboring Countries that are friendly to your own. Example You are living in Span, try a French, British or German Seller if you can't find someone in Spain (yes I know they are not right next to each other).

Here is another VERY GOOD guide for buying on eBay
It is on a website for cameras and photography but everything on that guide applies to arcade sticks as well. Just that all their examples are photography related.
http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/ebay/
P.S. Ken Rockwell is also having great advice and tips on photography.

Also there is no such thing as a "BEGINNER STICK" so do not ask. There are no Training Wheels in the FGC.

Also there is the thread FrankCastleAZ started, I am defaulting anything said to his thread.

need tips and tricks on building a wooden fight stick case

hey guys, i need some good tips and tricks on building a wooden fight stick case with good joints and lay outs. also the best wood i can used.

my plans is to just build a basic wooden case with simple joints that requires no wood screws but glue and wooden blanks. the tools i have is a small compact router, jig saw, couple of clamps, battery power drill, and a various of basic tools.(note that i do have router bits, drills bits and saw mini blades in my tool box). here couple of video's that i watch of one or two ways of building a nice fight stick case as in a example.

image
this is very interest of a case that was crave and cut out of a chuck of lumber.

image
this one is also interesting but in a different way. it put together in piece's with wood glue

the only things that keeping me guessing is how to put the buttons lay out on the side of the case with the groove craving. i see most in wooden case's that have it but no way how to do it. the buttons i am going to used is screw style then the clip on buttons. also how i am going to mount the joystick in then drilling holes on the top of the case. i want to keep this case hidden of any screw and keep it in stealth. i am going to cover the bottom of the case with a wooden sheet then plexis glass route. so if anybody can help me out with this please so so i can plan this build out the right way.

Good morning everyone! Wanted to throw launch the shop into the Tech Talk Community because why not... every other vendor has. I'll migrate over my SALES threads to here and ask the mods to close them out once I get everything moved over.

** About me and the Shop **

Some of you may know me, some of you may not... I am Jasen and I am a DIY-Aholic. I build Fight Sticks, SuperGuns, Print and Cut Custom Graphics, and Sell buttons, sticks, and tech to fuel my addiction. What started out as a minor hobby as a kid (pulling things apart to see how they worked and getting rocked at Street Fighter II and Samurai Showdown) turned into an obsession. Many things I make such as the Panzer Fight Sticks, SuperGun Cases, and graphics started out as something I needed for a project I was working on. Over the past two years it evolved into a "business", a term I use loosely because I'm not trying to make money... just trying to save it for my random projects and passing it along the best I can to the community. By night I may be an arcade/gaming enthusiast but by day I am a LCDR in the US Navy and drive Submarines for a living. Because of my day job I have been able to learn a lot of crazy stuff that has influenced my designs and projects. Thanks Navy for training me and testing me as a Nuclear Engineer!

I run this by myself so I know the quality of parts, prints, and builds... in my house. America was built from the home, I'm going to try and keep it that way. Plus it saves me money :-D

Best way to cascade routers for speed?

$
0
0
My ISP originally gave me a cable modem with only 1 lan socket so I bought a wireless router to give all my devices access to internet.
I had NAT type 2 and DMZ for my consoles and my gaming experience was fine.

But now my ISP decides to give me a new cable modem with routing capability, and I am wondering how I should cascade the routers for max speed (and maybe security?) I assume the setup would be like lan-wan? How would you set up both routers? I have never actually done router cascading before because I never need more than 1.

Which router should have what features enabled? Which one should have DMZ? On my old router, my device had DMZ feature that lets one device with a specific Mac Address to always have DMZ, so I never tried setting up DMZ manually. Do I need to worry about port forwarding? Should I just have DMZ on the new cable modem router?

By the way, what happens if both routers have the same address for admin page? Do I only need to change the device ip when I cascade them so I can access the the admin page on both devices through my browser?
