A: Spark is a optical sensor board for Sanwa JLF joysticks. It replaces the normal 'clicky' microswitch board, and instead uses infrared LEDs to detect the movement in the joystick.

360 HRAP VLX, removing plastic sides?

A friend just gave me his VLX with the warning that it needs some love and care.
I found 1 live spider and 1 roach, perhaps a bedbug, in it. Not to mention a few shells and legs all over.
That sickly sweet scent.
Alas, I'm from Brooklyn so no big deal. compressed air and some clorox wipes.
Now the side panels bug me. I can get 3 screws off and kind of rotate em up but I cant get deep in there.
Also it looks like me forcing it up and to pivot off the last screw I cant see has bent back some plastic inside. Probably need an xacto and just trim that off.
I need to go in on it. I got it wrapped in a garbage bag for now until round 2.

Edit: Yea, a bedbug. I pressed down and it exploded in a fashion worthy of Mortal Kombat.

Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

And let's get this started....

'Kitty' reffers to a new class of boards. The other boards I've made were made to be as usable in as many places as possible; Cthulhus, Imps, and FGW LED Controllers have been installed in all sorts of different sticks with great results. The Kitty boards represent a very different viewpoint. Instead of trying to make a single board that can be used in a wide variety of situations, these will be made to be installed in very specific sticks.

Goals:
1. Make installation as easy as possible in the specific Xbox360 arcade stick.
2. Make use of all of the features available in the stick as if the Kitty was part of the original design.
3. Add as much awesome as is physically possible.

As of this writing, boards and kits are ready to go for the first two products in the Kitty line: 'TE Kitty' and 'VLX Kitty'. These are made specifically for the MadCatz Tournament Edition FightSticks, and Hori VLX stick. I'm still in the middle of writing the normal documentation, but I welcome early adopters. Feel free to send a PM if you're willing to get your hands dirty with a new toy.

Most recent firmwares will always be available at these URLs:
VLX Kitty firmware: http://www.godlikecontrols.com/download/kitty/vlxkitty.zip
TE Kitty firmware: http://www.godlikecontrols.com/download/kitty/tekitty.zip

How to order:
Easiest way is through the Paypal checkout page I've setup:

Gaming monitor for PS4 24" or 27"?

Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a new monitor. I currently use a 24" monitor, I am thinking of upgrading to a 27". I know tournaments usually use 24", but this will primarily be hooked up to my PS4. I don't have experience playing on a 27" monitor, is there any drawbacks to using a bigger monitor to play SFV?

What do you guys use?

Madcatz TE2 v Razer Atrox, is there a plexi problem with the Madcatz, is the Atrox too big/plastic?

$

I'm in the market to buy a fight stick(i have given up on making my own, i would cost me a lot in not only the materials but also the tools needed), but have seen a lot of comments regarding the strange 'rainbow' colouring between the plexi and the image underneath of the TE2

is this a problem with all of the sticks or just a few?

I've also seen a few people mention the cheapness of the Atrox, and the plastic starts to warp/bend after a while

i've watched and read so many reviews on these sticks and am completely stumped as to whether they are worth it or not and would like some advice

i live in the UK, so modding and buying custom builds is not really an option as there are very few people building custom sticks that are at a reasonable price for someone who is a non competitive gamer

TE2 5V Terminal Location?

I've been scouring the Internet trying to find labeled diagrams of the TE2 pcb so I could do a quick mod to it but have had no luck. I am switching out the standard jlf switches for an optical and I need to solder the 5V wire to the board.

If anyone has a diagram they could link me or can tell me where on the board it is that would be much appreciated.

Maybe a common sense way to use Legacy sticks without a dual shock interfering and "cutting out"?

$

A simple way I found to bypass the dual shock connection was by inserting my Hori FC4 into one USB then my Madcatz T.E. One edition in the other USB you have to turn the system on with the dual shock but then you can disable it. Lag "seems" gone now but no way for me to test with data, it would be great to see if anyone could prove this but it sure feels more responsive unless they did an update. No need with this method to run batteries down on the dual shock and no Bluetooth interference. Just a new find I have not seen anywhere, but I don't read every post so I am not sure if it has been mentioned. This is my first post and I hope it helps someone, Fight on!

Looking to build my first fightstick: Possibly shooting for the moon?

Hello, first-time poster. Hiya.

So I've been tossing around the idea of building a fightstick for several years now (Mostly due to never having the money or never having the time during the day to get in the damn garage), and after finally getting the money together to buy what I need for a custom stick, I can now make the investments.

The idea is that I want to build a stick with all white transparent buttons, but a different color LED for each one, making them all light up every color of the rainbow.

So far, I only have two problems:
#1: Could this design work (Given that the LEDs come from a different site than the other parts)?
And #2: Where do I look to learn how to wire LEDs into a USB PCB so the LEDs can be powered (Again, first-timer)?

Once I can finally start construction, I'll post a follow-up with pics and even video. :3

3D Printed Parts Thread

I've seen chatter here and there about 3D printed parts, but nothing centralized. It seems to me to be a good idea to have a place to show off and share our 3D printed parts for arcade sticks. I'll update this main topic with parts as people post them, so this thread can be a helpful repository/link.

- Consider discussing your process, any tips/tricks to printing your part.
- Please also consider making your part available to the community so people can print their own!
- For those without access to a 3D printer, please consider making your part available on Shapeways, which is an on-demand 3D printing service. Their print jobs can be a little pricey, but it's cheaper than a $500 printer!

TE stick SFV issue

$

Been using joytokey and xboxce to play SFV online on PC and it seems like
every other game the stick stops working. I have to switch windows to my
desktop and back to SFV. I'm usually dead in the time it takes for that
process to happen.

I'm thinking about buying a new stick, kinda tired of dealing with the issue.
Anyone have a clue what could be happening? I do notice sometimes a popup
ad from my virus protection or firewall will be present when this happens but other
times nothing is present on my desktop when the stick just freezes.

Purchasing discontinued parts

Hey TT.

So I have recently stumbled upon Sanwa's history page, which contains a timeline and pictures of their parts produced over the span of 30 years. Not only did I found the JL-B 2/4/8-way joystick was their first (which I have bren scouring the Net to find info on), but they also have another joystick called the JL-1.

In summation, I want to find these ancient sticks and purchase them for personal ise.

I understand that there's no chance in hell of finding second hand JL-B's or JL-1's in the U.S. or the entire North American sub-continent. So basically, I'll have to deal with contacts within Japan, or possibly travel there as a last resort.

If anyone knows what panels the JL-B and JL-1 were commonly used, please give me a heads up.

And if anybody knows a English speaking arcade enthusiast in Japan who knows his parts, please PM some contact details and proof of voucher (so they don't think I'm a random weirdo).

tes+ stick acting weird?

Hi! I just got a madcatz tes+ for sfv.
However, my stick seems to be acting a bit weird.

If I push the stick harder after it touches the gate (square), it moves about 1 mm more.

This is getting on my nerves...

It's not a huge issue, but I can't help but feel that something might be wrong!

Is this normal?
