Finally got a decent (I think?) cheap soldering iron and a very decent desoldering gun.

The Official TE2, TE2+, TES+ EZ MOD Thread
Hi everyone! I wanted to take a minute to create this thread so everyone can ask questions, get help, etc. from one location with the TE2 EZ MOD.
What is the TE2 and TE2+ EZ MOD?
The TE2/TE2+ EZ MOD allows easy installation of the Brook Universal Fighting Board in all Madcatz TE2 sticks (and NOW TE2+ STICKS). If you are not familiar with the Brook UFB, check the link out. It's a PCB (or brain if you will) that allows your Fight/Arcade Stick to work with the following consoles: PS3/PS4/XBOX 360/XBOX ONE/Wii U (Pokken) and of course PC. It was released earlier this year and is a very welcomed addition to the community.
Why install it?
It mods your single stick into a multi platform beast quick and easy. Perfect for traveling around to tourneys, local events, etc. It works with all variants of the TE2 and, in my opinion, can't be installed improperly. It requires one minor modification to the stock wiring of the stick, removing the soldered on USB connector wires. They can be clipped right at the board easily. It fits in the stock location for the TE2/TE2+ so it looks clean when installed and keeps the Brook UFB swappable to other sticks as well because the connectors are common and top mounted.
What's included in the kit?
The TE2 and TE2+ EZ MOD Board is included with all necessary cables and connectors that require soldering to the Brook UFB. Can't solder? Don't worry! The shops carrying the TE2 EZ MOD will have Brook UFB pre-soldered for painless and solder-free install upon arrival.

LVT3 USERS
Some of the LVT3s designed for the MCZ TE2 are not compatible with the EZ MOD. Specifically, the XBONE version. The others ARE compatible but may not work right out of the box with the TE2+ and TE2 but may require a cable fix that connects the LVT3 to the EZ MOD. Basically, if your buttons don't work after install, you need to tweak the included LVT3 cable. What is happening is the button signal connections from the LVT3 are being connected directly to the GND plane and the GND plane of the LVT3 are being connected directly to the button signals. Clearly, nothing will work this way. Here's how the connector on the EZ MOD is setup:

FAQs (TE2 EZ MOD)
- Price? - I am leaving this up to the Vendors, however, I expect about $30 for the kit with some special combo deals from time to time when purchased with the Brook UFB.
- Will this work with the LVT3? - Yes. It should work fine. The Power Connector "U$8" aka "TO LVT3 or LED BOARD provides the necessary power to the stock MCZ LED board and the LVT3 board.
- What are the jumpers in the kit used for? - You connect them to pins on JP4 (RIGHT BUTTON on the AUX Panel) and JP5 (LEFT BUTTON on the Aux Panel). These let you set those buttons to either L3, R3, TP Click, or Turbo.
- What does JP6 do? - This is a programming header. Do not connect anything to this. It is not used by the end user.
- Can you use this to connect a PS360+ ? - Absolutely. In this case you will only need to connect the 4P USB interconnect and the 20P ribbon cable between the two boards.
- Can I use a Kaimana Khameleon with this setup? - Absolutely! The only modification you will need to make is making your own mini-USB to Molex 4 pin connector cable. Simply cut the non-mini end off of the cable and connect the wire ends to a molex 4P KK housing. Here's a link. Don't forget the pins!
- What do the LEDs on the Aux panel end up doing? - On sticks that have it, the LOCK button indicates Turbo Function. Solid = Turbo activated, Blinking = Turbo in effect for the button you are pressing. The Player LEDs work as expected lighting up for what player you are on the system. The remaining don't do anything. The one fun part is on XBONE variants all LEDs do a Knight Rider chase on power up. How fun!
- Do you have other EZ MODs? - Yes! The PS4 version of the Hori VLX has an EZ MOD available as well. And a TE2+ EZ MOD is being produced now. I have no immediate plans for TE+S EZ MODS due to military commitments and relatively low sales of that stick.
- My MCZ LED Board doesn't light up! - Don't worry, we can fix it. It's not clean but it will work until you can update to an LVT3 LED controller. On the 3 pin LED Board Connector, connect the middle pin and the pin closest to the start/select header. You can clip the wires and then solder/splice them together or even bridge the pins on the EZMOD board underneath. The LEDs should fire right up. Thanks @Megahurtz for being the guinea pig on this work around
FAQs (TE2+ EZ MOD)
- Price? - TBD, but I hope to keep it between $35 and $40. I didn't make as many of these so volume pricing won't be as good.
- Who sells it? Just me at EVO 2016 right now. If its popular and the TE2 EZ MOD does well, I suspect other shops will want to carry it as well.
- Do I have to use Jumpers? Nope. Not on this one. The TE2+ had all the right buttons this time!
- Does the UNLOCK/LOCK button work? Yes, as TURBO. To keep the board low cost and minimize the number of processors and programs to deal with I chose to NOT make that function work in lieu of using the Turbo Function.
- Does the Touch Pad work? Yes and No. It is setup to work once Brook implements the Touch Pad connections into the UFB Firmware. The TP click does work.
- Will this work with the LVT3? - Yes. It should work fine. The Power Connector "U$8" aka "TO LVT3 or LED BOARD provides the necessary power to the stock MCZ LED board and the LVT3 board.
- What does JP6 do? - This is a programming header. Do not connect anything to this. It is not used by the end user.
- Can you use this to connect a PS360+ ? - Absolutely. In this case you will only need to connect the 4P USB interconnect and the 20P ribbon cable between the two boards.
- Why are there LEDs on the board? What do they do? Two indicate the two voltages on the board, VBUS and VCC. If they are lit, power is working properly. The final LED is a "heartbeat" this indicates that the processor is working. If it's blinking, the EZ MOD is working
- The LOCK button indicates Turbo Function. Solid = Turbo activated, Blinking = Turbo in effect for the button you are pressing. The Player LEDs work as expected lighting up for what player you are on the system, except there is a twist! The Player 1 LED lights up Blue if you are Player 1. Then if you are Player 2, Player 1 and Player 2 LEDs light up RED. If you are Player 3: Player 1, 2, and 3 light up GREEN. Player 4: All 4 LEDs are ON and Purple! Fun! Also, the Knight Rider woosh goes on startup and the Player LEDs cycle their colors to show everything is working. Finally in XBONE mode, all 4 LEDs are on and glow WHITE.
- Do you have other EZ MODs? - Yes! The PS4 version of the Hori VLX has an EZ MOD available as well and the TE2 EZ MOD.

Silent sanwa engage distance differs
Hi, noob here! My Sanwa JLF-TPRG-8AYT-SK seems to engage at a further distance to the right than to the left. Seems like the plunger on the right microswitch needs to be pressed further before activation. I don't have to hit the gate or anything for it to activate but compared to the left there's some extra movement needed. Left is almost instant when moved. The problem isn't the end of the world but now that I've noticed it's gonna bug me. I've tried and noticed it with both stock and Kowal actuator.
Should I buy a new microswitch, try to move the one I've got or perhaps try inserting something in the switch to move the plunger closer to the stick (like in ultimate mod). Is there perhaps another solution?

Paradise Arcade Shop, LED Joysticks, Buttons, Mods and more

We have been floating around for a little while posting and received a recommendation to start a thread. Paradise Arcade Shop is based in Hawaii, working to bring a variety of controls to the arcade and fight stick market. We carry a number of different options for price points in both sticks and buttons, but we only sell products that we would use. That means, there is a difference between a Porsche and a Toyota, we see a place for both of those in the market, and we won't sell Toyota's at Porsche prices.
I say "we" as Ponyboy likes to harass me about, because the company is my wife and I. For those of you who have ordered already(thank you) she packs the orders and answers about 90% of the emails (mostly logisitics, but she is answering the "How to I light an LED" questions now) This is also her full time job and my part time job. She works hard to send out all stock items in 1-2 days, and rides my ass about the cutsom builds so they stay close to 1-3 days(We build LED sticks to order, and some of our game systems)
I have been an active membe of KLOV, Coinopspace, and BYOAC for sometime, and we sell on EBAY and Amazon. I will probably edit the intro down in the future, but I wanted just let people know who "we" are and who I am. Thank you for all the support and orders we already have received and now...it's time for the good stuff!
Mortal Kombat 9 Stick mod products!!!!! If you want new controls with the same forms to just upgrade your stick try some of these IL products and microswitch upgrades.
Translucent Concave IL buttons - A great upgrade to your stick, especially with...
IL-lumination LED pads - Available in RGB or single color

IL Eurosticks provide "Happ Competition" Style with an upgrade in quality
And, for amazing light touch, upgrade any Happ or IL button to our 20 gram micros (Please note that these are 20 gram max spec and really are closer to 15 grams of actuation force)
We also carry JLF's, JLW's, LS-32, LS-32-01, LS-40, PS-14-KN pushbuttons, re-released PS-14-K Skeleton buttons, Paradise LED sticks, custom ball tops and a variety of hollow shafts(we also have 10 new custom hollow shafts on order, need a long JLF shaft or want to put a ball top on a Eurostick joystick?)
Finally... we have two new ball tops in, Pearls and Emerald Green that will be available shortly and were built to match the Rollie Buttons.
And the answer is "Yes, the pearl will light up."

How much does your arcade stick lag? Arcade stick input lag testing & results thread
Hey guys, I wanted to share something I've been working on for the past half year or so. I've performed input lag tests for a large number of PS3, and XBox 360 sticks/PCBs and figured that I should post up what I've got done before these consoles become obsolete, lol. I'm now working on testing PS4 sticks.
All of the information on the tests can be found on my website including the methodology used, controls in place, and support for my testing method.
http://www.teyah.net/sticklag/overview.html
The results can be found here:
http://www.teyah.net/sticklag/results.html
And finally, the raw testing data can be viewed & downloaded from here:
http://www.teyah.net/sticklag/rawdata.html
Sticks/PCBs tested as of last update:
PS4: 17
PS3: 43
360: 22
Here are some quick results charts I made up for quick reference:
PS4 results:
![PS4%20Arcade%20stick%20lag%20results]()
PS3 results:
![PS3%20Arcade%20stick%20lag%20results]()
XBox 360 results:
![360%20Arcade%20stick%20lag%20results]()
I'll be updating it as our group comes across more sticks. The PS3 results were certainly interesting, I didn't expect the unlicensed PCBs to have such a huge advantage over licensed PS3 sticks. Anyway, hope this helps out those of you who consider input lag to be an important factor in choosing which stick to use.

Fightstick not working PC
My fightstick (Mad Catz SFxT edition) lights up for a brief second when plugged into my PC. after then it goes dark (no input etc). When I plug in a wired Xbox 360 controller it lights up for the same amount of time and then shows the first player quarter circle and works great. Is my stick broken? I have never used this fightstick for this PC before.
If it helps, I have never used this fight stick with this PC before. But in my old computer it was a plug and play since I have plugged in a Xbox 360 controller previously for the drivers.
When I go to the Mad Catz website to download the drivers it asks for me to plug in my fight stick and it doesn't allow me to move onto the next step until doing so. But I do not know if my product is included in the 4 drivers they have (ALPHA, TE2, TE2+, TES+) I tried all 4 and they do not work.
Need help! Thanks

Can't update windows...
So basically long story short, i had a power outage recently, whatever happened after my PC rebooted it totally jacked up the registery I tried for hours fixing it, but even after fixing as much as I could see that was wrong, i was still having problems. Searching this on the internet apparently after power outages this actually can happen. Scary.. and well irksome to say the least. Whatever the case I gave up trying to fix it and had to basically reformat my computer.
Now next problem so now im back at windows 8, now unfortunately it will now allow me to update windows 8.1. When I go to the store it says windows 8.1 is no longer available to download in the store. When I try to download it manually it says this is no longer supported. So ive been stuck in this loop of basically microsoft is no longer supporting windows 8, but at the same time its no longer allowing me to update to 8.1 either no matter what I do or have tried. So right now I just got basically a random mess of bullshit. Like I said ive tried to manually download the update as well which is confusing to me as to it just wont seem to install it very confusing.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Undamned's USB Decoders (USB to JAMMA, etc.) !

Intro:
Well, folks, it's been a long time coming, but I'm really close to finally getting these things out there and into your hands!
Description:
This is the opposite of boards like Toodles' Cthulhu or the PS360 which take the button/joystick wire signals and turn them into USB. This takes input from your USB 360 or PS3 controller and turns that into button/joystick wire signals. You could use this to control any number of projects from Superguns to robotics, to anything you can imagine that you'd like to control with your digital 360 or PS3 joystick!
These are essentially the same circuit and firmware as that of the UD-CPS2 (ran at multiple major events including ST Games @ EVO, The Fall Classic, etc.).
Target price is $35 for the Screw Terminal version and $40 for the DB15 version.
Screw Terminal Version Features:
- Terminal Blocks for solder free wiring (signal layout intentionally similar to MC Cthulhu so you can mate them for fun things like TE stick on SNES)
- USB A Socket
- Alternate header for USB signals - for people who don't to use the on-board USB socket
- Indicator LED - bi-color, red/green
- Alternate header for LED signals - for people who don't to use the on-board LED
- Pull-Up Selection Jumper - allows for pulling button/joystick signals up to +5V or +3.3V, depending on the application
- Player Select Jumpers - tell the joystick to light up the appropriate controller LED (can be set for P1-P4)
- Custom button mapping - for 6-8 action buttons
- Firmware can be updated via USB for future features/improvements
History:
Here's what @Rufus did with a couple boards which were used at SoCal Regionals, early last year:

(sweet 3D printed case by @Rufus not included)

(running on a supergun at SoCal Regionals 2013)
Future:
I will continue to improve the firmware features as I have time.

The NEW Official Arcade Stick Art Thread NO IMAGE QUOTING!
Been thinking about doing this for some time now.
Since people were using the old TE/SE art thread for stuff other than MadCatz sticks and the threads for the other sticks were just about ignored. Here's a new thread to cover art for all sticks (MadCatz, Hori, Namco, Sega, custom, etc.)
If possible, please upload your pics to the SRK Sticks Imageboard (http://srksticks.booru.org/) Instructions will be listed below.
Rules
-NO IMAGE QUOTING. Copy the image's URL and paste it. The forum should automatically recognize it as a link when you click on "Post." Failure to do so will result in an infraction.
-Please do not post full 300dpi images on the forums. This slows down the thread for everyone. Anyone who does so will receive an infraction. Resize your images to around 1024 pixels in width.

Madcatz te2 sfv fightstick problems
Hi, sorry if i am posting wrong or something, i'm new here. WEll here goes, my madcatz te2 sfv fightstick has the x button "stuck" now normally this wouldnt be a problem but the first stick i bough (the same) also had the button stuck and i ended up having to return it(at great cost to me, eat shit amazon) The second one worked, for a year, i played minimally, barely touching it and now it has the same problem, if i check it in "settings" on the pc the x button shows up as stuck, i tested the wire from the square button on the x button and it works fine, even if all the wires are disconnected the x button shows as stuck, anyone else had this problem, can it really be the pcb/wire twice in a row? because if so that is ridiculous an i am getting out of fighting games in general because i've already spent so much fucking time dealing with bullshit and NOT playing.

Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade Fightstick V.S.

it can also be connected to a 2nd one

like that
it looks really good but the $200 price tag kinda scares me.

RJ-45 Multi Console Cthulhu Arcade Stick Tutorial Ver.2

Edit:Also Dreamcast and 3DO
Intro
This post is a rewrite of Acceptable Risk?s RJ-45 Tutorial. This was posted to include new info such as recent console support added because the pinouts are spread out in the Cthulhu thread. Also I instead uses a Pass through over a keystone punch down type jack.
The MC Cthulhu is a purpose built PCB for hooking up with arcade joystick components. To work with different consoles, you only need to solder wires from a controller extension cable to the appropriate spots. If you look at the top op the pcb there are 3 rows of solder points with columns labled "GABCDEFV". Each extension cable wire must be soldered on to the appropriate column. When plugged in, the MC Cthulhu PCB can autodectect what system it is plugged into and then make your joystick work for that supported system. Be sure to download the latest firmware to ensure that all of the console cables you make will be compatible.
Originally the MC Cthulhu was able to support 5 consoles using 3 cables, therefore only 3 rows, but now it has grown to include many systems. Because there are 8 columns for system cables a Ethernet jack was a natural fit. The connecter used is typically an RJ-45. If you want to do a dual mod with Xbox 360 pad then you should check out this tutorial.
http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/rj-45-mc-cthulhu-imp-xbox-360-dual-mod-tutorial-diagram.94875/

Kitty info Update: If you dual modded your stick with a Kitty board, they come preinstalled with a RJ-45 jack. If you connect that to a RJ-45 pass through, then you can use the same cable pinouts for making your own custom cable.
Begin Tutorial
Supplies List:
MC Cthulhu
Arcade stick case and buttons.
Soldering Iron and Soldering supplies
Digital Multimeter (Recommended feature: beeping continuity tester)
Wire stripper/cutter
Neutrik or SwitchCraft RJ-45 Jack.
Cat 5 or Cat 6 ethernet cable. For pass through you need a cable with a connector at the end.
Cat 5/6 Crimper and wire cutter/stripper.
Cat 5/6 8P8C crimp on Connectors.
Extension cables for systems you want to use
24mm drill bit (forstner or Holesaw) for mounting hole and drill.
(optional)
Ethernet boots
Neutrik ruggedized boots for use with Neutrik Jack.

Part 1: Mounting the RJ-45.
I think it was Robokrikit that first linked the community to these. These are Neutrik RJ-45 panel mount jacks, available at lizardlick.com.
![ne8fdp_thumb.jpg]()
If you have a Plastic arcade stick Like a TE or SE or Hori
You will need to find a suitable place to drill a 24mm hole. 15/16 inches is equivalent to 24mm. Make sure before you drill a hole that you have enough space inside for the internal parts and can plug in the cable to it without obstruction.
![Placing-Neutrik-Hole.jpg]()
Pictured is a Hole Saw and a Forstner bit. A hole Saw is great for plastic and metal, and will work for wood, you will have to clear out the material out of the bit with a screwdriver. Forstners are great for wood an plastic, but do not attempt to cut metal with a forstner bit.
So if you drill a 24mm hole you can then use the mounting plate to drill the 2 mounting holes.
![DrillBits.jpg]()
For a wood case it is recommended that you use a switchcraft RJ-45. I think it was Voltech that first used these.
![SwitchCraftRJ-45.jpg]()
If you must mount the Neutrik in a wood case look to a post below.
Drill free option Update:
Recently I modded a VLX but this can also be used with a TE or any stick with a cord notch. I didn't want to drill into my VLX case so Instead I used an Ethernet coupler and hid that away in the cord compartment. I tied a knot in my ethernet cord so that the cord would not be pulled out of the notch used for the default usb cord. For a TE, you would cut off one end of the ethernet cable and then feed it through the hole previously used by the USB cable. After it is through the hole tie a knot in it. With the cut end on the inside you can then solder to the G-V row.
Part 2: Soldering on the ethernet cable to the MC Cthulhu
To start you would cut off maybe a foot off a cat5 or cat6 ethernet cable. The length should be long enough to reach where the RJ-45 jack is on your arcade stick. Strip off maybe a inch or two off the outer insulation and untwist the cables.
![CutStripCat5.jpg]()
You want to use Ethernet Tybe B layout as most networking cables come in that wiring order. You need to take the 8 wires and strip off 5 mm off the ends and solder them to row 1 using the following diagram. If the are stranded like pictured above then you want to twist and tin each cable end with some solder so it goes in easier. Each of those colored wires corresponds to a letter on the GABCDEFV row.
![WiringEthernetColorsTo_GV_Row.jpg]()
It also helps if you solder on to an actual MC board instead of a picture of the board. (note pictured on the paper is a ps3 cthulhu, which is identical in appearance except for 4 diodes to the right of the G-V rows)
![Cat5eSolderedonBoard.jpg]()
Now you just plug it into the RJ-45 pass through port.

Help Getting a Clear Plexiglass for My Hitbox
Hey, I've been looking around and not having much luck, but does anyone have any recommendations on where I could get a clear plexiglass for my Hitbox? I attempted to contact Hitbox directly, but they never really got back to me. Any help would be much appreciated.

Brook PS3/PS4 "Fightboard" PCB Thread
Hey Everyone,
Brook just announced a new 40mm x 40mm Square PCB called the "Fight Board". Myself and few SRK tech talk members had some early access to the board and have been testing it for the past few weeks. With the help of our feedback they are ready for retail production and will be available through Brook's retail channels worldwide later this month (November 2015) at around $40 (US).
![tUFSXnj.jpg]()
Features:
- Auto detects PS3 and PS4
- No 8 Minute Timeout on PS4
- SOCD Cleaner
- Firmware Updatable
- Optional Access to Turbo, Analog Controls (via firmware Update), TouchPad & Touchpad button, & LEDs.
- Common Ground
![fD9AyRG.jpg]()
*One thing to note is that It requires soldering to access the inputs and does not come with screw terminals. So break out those irons...
As far as initial performance goes myself and @wazwuz have found the board to perform slightly faster or atleast equal to a FC4 pad hacked board. We will be testing further and with more detail when the retail firmware is available.
Brook via @gogo.zippy will be closely monitoring this thread throughout its initial release and as always will be available for questions and feedback.

need urgent help
Good evening,
Do u repair fighsticks?
If yes I need some help.
1. I have a Street Fighter®V Arcade FightStick™ Tournament Edition S+ for PS4 & PS3.
I bought a used one. I changed the old mother board out with a new one, BUT the I don't know how to connect wires that pertain to PS button etc (in that area) to the mother board.
2. I also have a
Mad Catz SFV Arcade Fightstick Tournament Edition 2+ for PlayStation 3 & PlayStation 4
This one --It also was bought used but without a joystick, so i bought a joystick and every time I try to choose a player in Street Fighter it keeps cycling through the list of players and won't let me choose a player.
