I'm looking into buying a PS4 for MKX/SF5 next month but I only play on a stick and there aren't any available. Anyone have any info on if Atrox, Qanba, MadCatz, etc, etc is going to be releasing anymore PS4 sticks soon? And by soon I mean next month.

Thanks.

So I have this stick just waiting for the pcb to get here. I have seen install videos for the TE but I know the pcb on it is a little different and I was seeing if anyone had done this mod to this particular stick. If so do you have a better explanation than a basic TE install because it seems that's what people assume is used.

alright so atm my ps360+ isn't working, when it's plugged into the computer it comes up with unknown device connect jibber jabber, and it wont register on xbox 360 and ps3. the led's will flash once but nothing more after that. I've tried to go into bootloader to upgrade the firmware but it's not working properly either. the led will stay lit and after 10 seconds the lights will rotate slowly instead of fast and still comes up as unknown device on pc...

Any ideas what i can do to fix it?

l2 analog trigger stuck at maximum (dual shock 4)

So I decide to pull out my ps4 after having not used it for quite some time. I updated to the latest firmware which caused issues with my ps4's audio to my asus monitor (it seemingly works fine with my living room hdtv.) and I discovered that my controller no longer worked in games. after doing some troubleshooting by hooking it up to my pc, I discovered that for whatever reason the l2 trigger appears to be activated all the way at all times. I'm guessing this is what is causing my issues in games on the ps4. I managed to get the controller to work in games by performing a reset while a game was running, but l2 would not work. I thought that perhaps there would be a physical defect or something that is stuck in the contact on the controller itself. I disassembled the controller completely and found that nothing appeared to be physically wrong. The only time I was able to get l2 to show as off in the windows controller diagnostic was when the controller was fully disassembled and the wire ribbon made no contact with the pcb, but if I applied pressure to the front of the ribbon forcing it to make contact with the pcb then the trigger would show as activated. I'm not sure if the wiring is kaput or there is some other issue with the controller. I am hoping that perhaps some of the gurus here might have some ideas. I could just spring for a new controller, but my curiosity is piqued and I'd like to fix this for the fun of it and maybe learn something in the process.

Venom arcade stick PS4/PS3

Hi guys!
do you have heard anything about the Venom PS4 arcade stick? I take a look at the description and photos(since it´s the only thing we got) and it looks like the mayflash V2, the case looks the same used on the mayflash v2.
Since the descrition says it has premium quality parts (I dont know what they call premium quality parts) I assume it comes with sanwa or seimitsu parts. The color of the buttons and balltop looks navy, so maybe it has the PS-15 navy(I dont believe but it´s the only quality buttons I know with that color). The price is 75€($86), a nice chance to get a PS4 stick. It looks nice btw, here is some photos:

I was looking on the net and I found other PS4 stick with the same name but different in all aspects, looks a kind of cheap one, here is it:

My Past Stick
Multi Mod Mad Catz TE w/ MC Ctuhlu PCB
Multi Mod Mad Catz TE S w/ MC Ctuhlu PCB
These have served their purpose and wanted to start w/ something new for next gen since I am having issues w/ usb cable and other issues.

What I know which isnt alot
1.) Madcatz TE2 PS3/PS4 PCB is common ground and Xbox One isn't
2.) The PS4 has a bluetooth encryption feature which makes the PS360+ PCB timeout after 8 minutes If I went w/ an Xbox One TE2
3.) MC Cthulu doesn't support Xbox 360
4.) PS3/PS4 TE2's Are sold out and my hand hurts from playing GG Xrd on PS4 lol

My primary system is a PS4 but would like to jump back and forth just to be future proof. I was looking into going w/ a TE Xbox One version along w/ Crossbone amd PS360+ Mod but couldnt wrap my head around the 8 min timeout which would be really annoying even with a soft reset. What would be the easiest method to get a TE2 PS3/4 Stick to work with Xbox One, 360, PC, Wii/Wii U/Gamecube ?
My only guess is a TE2 PS3/PS4 Stick w/ Crossbone, PS360+ and Xbox One Pad Hack, Is this correct ?
If i am correct and with this layer of complexity would this introduce latency into the mix ?
What would be the best replacement Sanwa buttons for this stick looking for Silent, More reliable than questionable Mad Catz Parts ?
What would be the best replacement Sanwa stick for this stick looking for Silent, More reliable than questionable Mad Catz Parts ?
I am looking for a 2 stick setup... and I dont have issues w/ blowing $400 beans to begin with but just wanted to know If Mad Catz being official Sponser of Capcom Cup if I should wait for Final Round for discounts on ordering even though there is none available until May ?

Any help would be appreciated Thanks

I hope you all enjoyed! Apologies about the delay but the mod had to be done before I posted. Why? Because, Tech Talk! I told you all I wouldn't go 5 minutes without modding it out the box. For what it's worth, this is like the best of both worlds for Sanwa and Seimitsu. As you can clearly see, the inclusion of the metal washer is clearly Sanwa inspired. The actuator as well, is Sanwa inspired. The material for the actuator has to be ABS. It's definitely not nylon or delrin, and definitely not acrylic. The gate is clearly Seimitsu inspired right down to the hole design and the switches and the tension also Seimitsu inspired. Considering they share the same brand switches, this is a no brainer but then the placement of the switches also feels clearly Seimitsu inspired. When I did the mod to the body no plastic melted even at a high speed and no funky odors as well. I definitely like the stick a lot so far. It has a ton of mod potential, a LS-55 spring has more tension and fits right in with no modding necessary. The shaft looks to be JLF inspired to a degree. The pivot has a high quality design but the material is not delrin or nylon, it feels much harder like ABS. I would have preferred delrin but, considering how limited the points of contact are on the pivot, I do not think this is an issue.

So far, I'm rating this a 10/10. Out the box it feels good, nice tension, decent engage though the throw feels large to me (I play on no throw mods) but isn't anywhere near as large as a JLF. The stick has a nice tension out of the box as well, not too loose like a JLF. I'm thinking this is more akin to a LS-40 in feel. The smooth pivot, the engage and throw, all reminds me of the 40. Very different from the LS-56 and JLF. I haven't used a LS-32 yet except briefly and this doesn't feel like that, either. At the moment, I'm going to say if you want to try a LS-40 and are willing to do a minor mod to get levers on the stick, then get a Hayabusa.

It's 2009, and HDTVs are still as laggy as ever. Let's take a look at what went wrong, and how a savvy consumer can now eliminate the issue altogether. If you're unfamiliar with any of the terms in this FAQ, read a general HDTV guide first. This guide will not benefit you if you don't understand the very basics of HDTVs.

For our intents and purposes, the old HDTV FAQ is a now outdated, so please refer to this one for the most current and relevant information.

Why do games lag on HDTVs?

There are two different reasons for this, and either one or both can contribute to the overall delay on an HDTV.

A] Scaling/Deinterlacing: The HDTV is fed a signal different from its native resolution. The HDTV experiences a processing delay while scaling the signal (example: 480i signal from PS2 to 1080p HDTV).
B] Postprocessing: Postprocessing consists of additional features on HDTVs to clean up or "improve" the visual picture quality of images (example: 1080p signal from PS3 to 1080p Samsung HDTV still has lag).

What is wrong with Postprocessing?

The key issue with Postprocessing in consumer-grade displays is that it isn't optional. Many HDTVs have a "Game Mode" in which the main purpose is to disable both Scaling/Deinterlacing delay and Postprocessing delay. However, even with "Game Mode" enabled, most HDTVs still suffer from lag due to postprocessing that simply can't be disabled.

How much does my set suffer from HDTV Game Lag?

There are two different ways to test this. One is with a copy of Guitar Hero II or higher. These titles includes a calibration test, which gives you the delay in milliseconds after testing a "note" going down the screen. You can strum with the D-Pad of your controller (no guitar controller necessary).

The other way is with a copy of Rock Band 2. Rock Band 2 includes a calibration test with no input required from the user. The lag is measured automatically using the Rock Band 2 Guitar and Microphone. This is the most accurate method at the time of this writing for the average consumer to measure HDTV Game Lag.

You'll want to conduct two different tests, one for HD resolution (720p, 1080i/p) and one for non-HD resolution (480i/p). You can accomplish this by changing the resolution in your X-Box 360 or PS3 settings.

!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT ASK OTHER PEOPLE HOW MUCH AN HDTV LAGS! TEST IT YOURSELF AND POST RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT ASK OTHER PEOPLE HOW MUCH AN HDTV LAGS! TEST IT YOURSELF AND POST RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is this important? There are THOUSANDS of HDTVs. Nobody knows how much X or Y HDTV lags off the top of their head--even if they own the HDTV, most people are royal newbs so they're not going to actually do a real test (like Rock Band 2), they're just going to pull some shit out of their ass and tell you it's fine when they play Halo 3 and live in permanent denial.

The only way to see if an HDTV you want to buy lags is to go to the store and test it yourself with Guitar Hero 2+ or preferably Rock Band 2. If you bought your HDTV from a retail store, there is a 99.9% chance it lags, and probably still lags even with Game Mode enabled. If you are buying your HDTV online because of a "good deal" or whatever, good for you, but you ARE taking a risk and nobody can help you. Anyway, relax--that's what this guide is for, to help you get around the lag anyway.

Frame Conversion:

1 frame is approximately 17 milliseconds.
Ideal (unnoticeable) delay for fighting or rhythm games is 8 milliseconds or less, or 1/2 of a frame.

Acceptable (playable) delay is 9 to 34 milliseconds, or 1/2 of a frame to 2 frames. Note that while gameplay will still be affected by a delay of 2 frames, most people will still have a difficult time noticing the difference immediately.

Unacceptable (unplayable) delay is over 34 milliseconds, or anything higher than 2 frames. Typically, this is a point when timing-sensitive gamers will even feel a delay at the menu screen or with the cursor when selecting a character.

The Best Solution: Commercial-grade HDTV Displays

What if there were an HDTV that had both lightning-fast scaling as well as no unnecessary and bloated postprocessing?

Guess what: they're here. They're just not marketed towards you and me. They are marketed towards Emergency Centers, Network Operations Centers, hospitals, airports, and other businesses requiring accurate, up-to-the-millisecond digital signage under a 24x7 environment. To see more, Google "digital signage" or similar. The same type of monitors are used in HD arcade cabinets, which is why they don't lag.

While these sets do not typically include HDTV tuners (and thus, are not officially sold as televisions), 95% of you HDTV watchers probably have a box from your cable company that does this already. Just hook it up through Component/DVI/HDMI and you're ready to roll.

Better yet, Commercial-grade HDTVs do not have ridiculous branding all over the monitor bezel like your typical Sharp, Samsung, or Sony. They are simplistic and classy, like something you'd see in a movie. This is just my opinion, but I think that the 2008 HDTV models from these companies have looked hideous; definitely not something I'd want to mount on my wall.

Without further adieu, my newest HD display, the Viewsonic CD4620:

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/digital-signage/cd4620.htm

Purchased from Newegg at the link below:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116111

This set has a definite 4ms or lower delay on every signal I've thrown at it so far, both SD and HD with no extra gadgets required. The price is definitely high for a 46" display, but was still about $500 cheaper than a 46" 2008 Sony Bravia XBR6 and thousands cheaper than the XBR8. Furthermore, unlike the Sony Bravia sets, this one doesn't lag!

The next-best solution: HD Fury or Console VGA cable
This is the best solution if you have already made your HDTV purchase and do not plan on upgrading!

http://www.hdfury.com/

The HD Fury is a device that allows you to connect any HDMI device (with HDCP) to a regular analog RGB input port. The original intention of this device is to hook up HDMI devices to analog-only monitors or projectors, and strip the HDCP protection for standard viewing. In our situation, we might be able to eliminate lag with it.

How? Turns out, many (but not all) HDTVs don't have postprocessing enabled on the VGA port only. That means if you simply plug your PS3/X360 into the VGA port, you should be able to both get high-definition output (with Blu-Ray support, etc) but avoid the 40+ms lag induced by most consumer HDTV postprocessing. The HD Fury doesn't actually do any upscaling or downscaling; it simply converts the signal from digital to analog.

If it's an X-Box 360 you need to hook up, there is an official Microsoft VGA Cable which will accomplish the same thing with much less work.

If it's a PS3 or Wii you need to hook up, there is a 3rd party cable that ought to do the trick.

These cables should take care of what the HD Fury does much more cheaply, but of course only work with the specific consoles!

What about my Playstation 2 or older console?

If you're still worried about gaming on your PS2, you can still use the HD PRO BOX (Cheap!) or the XRGB-2+ to get a "straight-to-VGA" connection for HDTVs and also rid yourself of those pesky 480i signals that would've caused even more lag.

Remember that Dreamcast doesn't need an upscaling box, you can simply purchase a Dreamcast VGA box and hook it up straight to your HDTV's VGA port for theoretical lag-free gaming.

There's also the excellent DVDO Edge, which completely eliminates upscaling lag but won't do much for postprocessing lag issues. If you were to pair this up with an HD Fury, you'd have the ultimate combination since you could hook up all of your consoles to the DVDO Edge and then output everything at once to your HDTV's lag-free VGA port!

Let's get cracking on a lag-free future!

Fitting a Seimitsu LS-32-01 Joystick (or anything really) into a Sega Megadrive Powerstick

$

Hello all

I am a total noob when it comes to modding stuff, and I would need help for what seems to me like a modest project.

When I was a teen I had a Sega Power Stick for my megadrive - the best thing ever!
It's only when I bought a new pair of those recently that I realised that these memories were of the JAPANESE arcade stick - the european/US versions of these simply aren't joysticks.
After opening the things and doing a bit of research on the net, however I realized the body and general "architecture" was the just the same, and everything in the body was still there to fit in a real joystick.
So I am considering replacing the fake joystick with a real one - like, a Seimitsu.

I'd need help from someone who has experience with building/replacing/modding joysticks before ordering anything though.

This is a video showing the inside of a Japanese power stick:
image
And here's one showing the inside of a euro/US one (jump to 2min):
image

And here's the Seimitsu stick I'm thinking of using (link is from the local retailer in France I'm considering buying from).
http://www.smallcab.net/joystick-seimitsu-ls32-noir-p-404.html#.VQQ-uOGaB8E

Dimension from screw hole to screw hole are the standard 75mm x 40mm, and as shown on the videos, connectors are of the 5 pin kind, so all seems well...
But I'd like to make sure things are feasible, and I'm not missing any potential bad surprise. What I'm wondering most about is the steel plate position. In the japanese power stick (as in the AES arcade stick), the plate is fixed under the stick, while all pictures of Seimitsu sticks show the plates on top of the sticks. I guess they can be screwed on either side, but again I have no experience and no way to be sure before I have spent the cash - or anyone here helps. :)

Many, many thanks to whoever can help me out on this one!

Cheers

FAQ
Spoiler:
1. What is the Hit Box?

The Hit Box all-button controller, AKA the "Stickless Stick," is a game controller specifically designed for fighting games. We replaced the joystick with directional buttons that are controlled by your fingers.

2. Why buttons?

By using 4 directional buttons controlled by 4 fingers, you gain:

- Increased input speed
- Consistent inputs yield fewer mistakes
- Exclusive control over your movement
- No travel time inputting directions
- Button techniques apply to movement and special inputs (plinking, piano, double tap, slide)
- Game-specific features such as SSFIV input shortcuts (such as walking dragon punches)
- No unintentional inputs such as accidental jumps
- No arm/wrist motion
- Stays put in your lap

3. Are those smaller buttons than normal?

Yes. We use 24mm Sanwa pushbuttons with exception to the 'Up' button, which is 30mm. They are highly sensitive buttons and work perfectly. 24 mm buttons are able to be brought closer together and fit the natural curve of the human hand. When the button spread is closer together, players find all buttons directly at their finger tips with no hand-hovering.

4. Can I still execute throws and focus attacks on this smaller layout?

Yes.

5. What about plinking and double tapping my combo links?

Of course.

6. Why have a shared jump button for your thumbs?

It is larger than the other buttons so both thumbs can access "Up" depending on player preference. By utilizing this, you can perform advanced "joystick" motions easily. Tri-jumps and Tiger Knee inputs are much faster and more accurate. It also makes many Just-Frame inputs incredibly easy.

8. Who is this for? Do I need keyboard experience?

While it appears to share the most common ground with a keyboard, Hit Box is a balance between Joystick, Pad, and Keyboard together. You dont need background in any controller to appreciate the Hit Box: Anyone can use it!

9. Can I still do everything I can do on my joystick?

Everything and more.

10. What about Hadokens and Dragon Punches and SPDs?

Yes. Quickly and accurately.

11. What about "______'s ________ combo"?

Yes.

12. Is there a learning curve?

The learning curve is creating fast, new memory in your fingers. It doesn't take long. This also gets rid of old bad habits too!

13. Are these for advanced players only?

No! The benefits of these boxes can be appreciated by everyone from the beginning player to the most advanced tournament player. The whole purpose of the Hit Box is to aide your fundamentals and build your foundation so that you can focus on what actually matters in a match: your opponent.

14. What happens when you hold the Left and Right buttons together?

Left + Right = Neutral. Your character will stand still. No charging or blocking occurs.

15. Can I hold Left and Right to block cross ups?

No. Left + Right = Neutral; you will get hit in the face.

18. Can I walk forward and charge a sonic boom?

No.

19. Can I hold Back and perform shoryuken motions?

No. Left + Right = Neutral.

20. Is "Left + Right = Neutral" useless?

No! Left + Right is the basis for many advanced techniques that will make your life easier! You get access to 3-frame dashes, 1-button FADCs, rapid dragon punches, new option selects, safe and easy Korean backdash cancelling, and much more! Left + Right will help your execution significantly. Check out all of the tech in our video section!

Hey guys, it's nice to meet you all. A little of my background, I've been a 2-D fighting gamer for as long as I can remember.. Pretty long time now.. it all started when young nine-year-old kid me started playing Super Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II on SNES, then Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter at the arcades, and then I played Super Smash Bros on N64, a ton of SF series at the arcade, KOF series, SCII, MVC series, SF Third Strike, and Guilty Gear X2 back then when I was a young teenager growing up and actually still do play to this present day during my free time. Mainly KOF though, I really got into it at the arcade playing competitively and I've gotten pretty good at it.. I really like the gameplay and combos.. grew up on it. A lot of fond memories playing versus with people, friends, family.

Well anyway yeah, I was wondering if you guys could help me out on this arcade stick I bought a while ago that I had backed away in the closet for a long time.. now I just want to mess around with it again. It works great, but not perfect.

It has one single problem that's been really bothering me. It's the square button. It's works, but you need to press it hard to make it input into the game.

How do I fix this? I really want to get to the bottom of it and make the stick in good perfect working order again so I can pull off moves without messing up. You don't know many times I messed up in frustration while playing the CP using the stick. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I also have this custom made capcom arcade stick I purchased from arcadeshock a long time ago.. it too was put away and now has resurfaced :) The problem with it is that the joystick... the joystick honestly doesn't feel great. Don't get me wrong, everything is in perfect condition, the buttons are really responsive, the joystick does it's job, but trying to do quarter circle forward, half circle back motions for specials using CVS2 KOF characters is a pain in the rear.. I wish I had thought about the stick before I bought it.. plus it's so bulky I wish I could anchor it on a really heavy table or something.. trying to play with it is on lap is... ugh, rough. Tried on the floor, still, it's hard to use the joystick. I mainly got it for MvC2 and for SF games.

Is there a way I could modify the joystick? I remember at the arcades with KOF, they had a bat joystick that was shorter and it made clicking sounds, but it was really response and worked great. Where can I get those to modify?? By the way, what's this octagonal gate everyone's been talking about? Is it significantly better than square gate? What do you guys think? Can I mod both hori and capcom sticks? What kind of exact equipment do I need to get going? I also have two Playstation 3 Real Arcade Pro. 3 Fighting Stick I purchased back in 2009, I believe they have square gate.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks a lot guys. Looking forward to posting and see you guys around.

XboxOne stick on PC?

I have been googling and searching through forums for the past hour and haven't found the answer to this question yet (to my surprise).

What is the best/easiest mod available for my situation: I have a new Razer Atrox for the XOne, and I want to modify it so that the triggers work with the PC. I want to get back into street fighter, but don't want to have to hit three buttons at once for ex/super/ultras. Without modifications I know I'll be playing with a six button layout, so what options do I have to make it work with all eight buttons?

Recently announced Razer Arcade stick looks sleek but it seems to be only on the xbox. Also it doesn't look like it uses quick disconnects that we're used to, But a different kind that has both connectors in 1.
more info at their site, Don't forget to sign up for their beta Program!

EDIT:
List of suggestions:
Mandatory
Different Quick Connects for the buttons and stick
Common Ground PCB
Move the insides to the Bottom of the Stick
Move The Latch that Opens the stick
Make the height inside the stick taller so it can have parts that aren't japanese

The Kaimana LED Controller is a powerful new tool for those looking to get the most out of their custom arcade stick or cabinet! This is the first board to used indexed LEDs in an arcade stick and allows for RGB control and animations. It is also the first fight stick RGB LED controller to provide full RGB control for joystick ball tops and hit box configurations.

The Kaimana can run conventional LEDs like the Pele's or Uila's with an adapter board or can be used to run the new Kaimana J's:

Unlike previous LED boards, the Kaimana uses indexed LEDs so they can be connected in series and you don't have to have multiple wires running from the controller board to each LED

Example (jwyder's stick):

It is also designed for easy installation as a pass through board. The pinouts are the same as a PS360 so modding your dual mod stick could not get any easier!

I have installed three of these systems, and total install time, including installing all the buttons and joystick ahs been less than 1 hour each time using the Kaimana J's

Based on the infinitely flexible Arduino, this board can do just about anything you can imagine. Because it uses the extremely simple to learn Arduino programming language, this board opens the gate for anyone to create their own light patterns and shows.

As people invent there own animations series we will be adding them to the store for download and people who contribute programs will be able to earn store credit! As of right now the entire Ryu special move set for SFIV has been coded with animations. The best part is that all you need is a USB cable and any of the programs created can be loaded in seconds!

Boards and accessories can be purchased here:

Razer Atrox for xbox one

Just put in my order for the stick on amazon and I'm wondering if anybody else is using or has used the Atrox for X1? I ask because I noticed that the stick doesn't come equipped with an audio jack which means no headset support. I'm actually hoping that somebody can point me in the direction of either a headset that's fully wireless for the X1 (but im pretty sure there isn't one......yet) or some information on if its possible to add a headset jack to a stick.

I'd appreciate any help I can get on this issue because it looks like I might be that guy using kinect to chat when playing fighters.....and that's not good

Thanks in advance.
